SettleX · A social enterprise rebuilding displaced lives through entrepreneurship

The world loses a scientist every time a refugee can't go back to work.

SettleX helps highly skilled displaced people — scientists, doctors, teachers, professionals — rebuild their careers and their lives through entrepreneurship. Women with children are given priority. A UK Community Interest Company, born in Scotland out of my own family's relocation from Ukraine.

Why SettleX exists.

After sixteen years living in the UK, the war in Ukraine reached my own family — and in 2022 I relocated them to Scotland. I started what is now SettleX — first as Kvitka CIC — because living it showed me a pattern I couldn't unsee, and opened my eyes to the global displacement crisis. The people forced to move are so often highly educated: scientists, doctors, teachers, engineers. But the systems receiving them are not built to let them contribute. Economic, social and language barriers stop qualified people from practising their craft — and a society loses the talent it just gained.

SettleX exists to close that gap through entrepreneurship: giving displaced professionals a route to rebuild by building something of their own, and a path back into the work they trained for. Women with children are given priority — because displacement hits them hardest, and their return to work has the widest ripple effect.

What SettleX does.

Online programmes.

Structured programmes that help displaced professionals convert their expertise into a business or a route back into their field — wherever they've landed.

A digital platform.

A platform that connects people to the tools, mentors and opportunities that make rebuilding possible, at scale rather than one case at a time.

Partnerships that remove barriers.

We work with companies, governments and institutions to smooth the process — because the barriers are systemic, and so the solutions have to be too.

Two ways in.

Partners, funders & institutions

Turn displaced talent into economic contribution — with us.

Companies offering placements, governments designing integration pathways, institutions and funders scaling what works. Partnership is how SettleX reaches more people faster.
